Baby  Sophia spent the night sleeping on her mothers chest listening to Mom's heartbeat as mom talked, and sang of Jesus' Love for her.. She had her parents, sister Josie and both grandmothers with the whole time, she was much loved. We had Nine blessed days with this prescious gift from God. We are very greatful for every minute. Thank you everyone for your prayers they did make a difference. The doctors said she wouldn't survive birth. We fooled them.

Sophia Joy Redinger

I just got off the phone with Grandma Kathy Hallock and Sophia Joy Redinger was born this morning weight in at a whopping 14 oz! Her head is the size of a mandarin orange and she would fit in the palm of your hand. But they are excited - she's healthy, as healthy as a 24 week old baby can be. She still needs our prayers and support. Thank you so far and keep praying.

Need more prayers

You heard my announcement today about Brian and Chandra. We later prayed as a congregation for them  The baby is only around 24 weeks along. They are planning on doing surgery to take the baby via c-section on Sunday. Please pray for all involved in this very serious issue. Pray for the baby's health and the family's.

We just dedicated a baby last week that went through something similar. It can happen again. Please join forces with prayer.

Juliette has passed....

Juliette is now sleeping and awaiting the coming of Jesus. May it be soon! Please pray for the family and friends. Death is really a sting, but according to 1 Corinthians 15, that sting will be put away and never happen again. I'm looking forward to that.

Dear Lord, I pray now for Matt and all of Juliette's extended family. I don't understand this. It doesn't make sense. But I pray you will comfort and strength all involved in this situation. Please hold them close, Lord. Please guide them through the valley of death right now. I pray for the Holy Spirit to go to them and lead them out of this valley. And I pray for us, Lord, that we will supprot them as we should. Please guide this situation, Lord. Please lead. Amen....

Vancouver Today e.Update

November 23, 2010

Juliette Update!
Most of you may have seen the email yesterday about the update for Juliette. We have no more news for today, but rather, just a call for a reminder to pray for all involved. This is not how it should be and not how it is.

Other Prayer Requests
Many times we receive prayer requests from people and our response is, "I'll pray for you!" Why not, instead of saying we'll pray for them, stop right then and pray WITH them? And now, as you've received this notice, why not say a pray for the people you know and the people who need prayer.

Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a time not to thank your family and friends - although we should do that too - but it's really a time to acknowledge God's provision for us throughout the year. To be thankful to someone more powerful, more knowledgeable, more present, and more capable than you. We no longer fight the extremes to survive like the pilgrims had to. They celebrated because of all that came, there were now less than half remaining. They truly felt like they were one of the absolute most fortunate.

But shouldn't we feel that way too? How many times has God preserved us while we rode in our cars? How thankful for our job are we, that helps us survive the day-to-day? How close have we come to cancer this last year? How many people do we know that haven't survived spiritually this last year.

Why not take a moment around your Thanksgiving table with family and friends and let them know why you are thankful for what God has done in your life?

FYI - What's Happening
  • Today - in a few minutes - join the Conference Call Prayer Meeting - the simplest way to join a community group
  • Today - The community Services Center will be open from 9:30-3pm
  • Thursday - THANKSGIVING!
  • Sabbath - Worship at 9, Sabbath School at 10, Worship at 11.

Juliette Update....

THIS IS A SIMPLE JULIETTE UPDATE!

Matt got a call from his mom, he was in Vancouver, that the nurse has told him he needs to get home. He's asking for prayers for Juliette. (i'm going to add that this appears to be the end of a very bad situation)

I'm also adding that we need to pray for the family, the extended family, etc. This is really hard and it's not the way God designed it to be! Please pray for a peace that passes all understanding. Please pray for God to hold Matt and everyone involved tight and close. Please pray for a miracle to happen in the name of Jesus Christ!

Prayer Request

Begin forwarded message:

From: Dee RIVERA
Date: November 17, 2010 12:27:53 PM PST

This is a prayer request for my former boss and his wife (Paul and Kristin Edwards)  Would you please send this out with your info you send out to the church members?

Thanks!

The prayer request for their 3 year old, Keaton. His Dr. thinks he has Kawasaki disease. Unfortunately they didn't catch it in time for him to get on the time sensitive medication. :( He is scheduled for an echocardiogram this Thursday. We're praying for the best possible outcome.

A note from Kristin:

I believe God led Paul to this diagnosis, as his Dr's didn't catch it. They thought he had Scarlet fever, and treated with antibiotics. It is imperative that children get on gamma globulin drugs immediately, with this disease. Because they didn't catch it in time, Keaton didn't get the time sensitive rx. Which means there is a much higher risk of heart disease, heart attack, aneurysms, seizure and other organ issues. He is scheduled for a echocardiogram this coming Thursday. We are praying and asking for prayers that somehow his heart will have been untouched by this illness and if it wasn't than God will help us through the necessary procedures and treatment. There will be a series of ECHO 's because the way this disease works is it attacks the organs down the road, long after the initial illness occurred. He is currently 3 1/2 weeks into the illness. :(

Portland/Vancouver/Salem Station Now on the Air!

Begin forwarded message:

cid:image003.jpg@01CB7078.B58D8BD0

Dear Friends,

We are blessed to announce that Better Life Broadcasting Network is now on the air in the Portland, Vancouver and Salem areas on UHF digital channel 36.

We can testify what a miracle of the Lord for this broadcast expansion to take place, and we'd like to thank all of you for your prayers and financial support of this project.

If you are in this new viewing area and you already have the ability to receive digital UHF signals, you will need to perform the "channel rescan" function to add Better Life to your channel lineup. If you are still receiving your broadcast through an analog receiving television, you will need an analog to digital converter box which can be obtained at most electronic stores like Radio Shack or Walmart.

Better Life would like to welcome all our potential new viewers of about 2.5 million people. We hope and pray you'll be encouraged and edified by the programming.

Please feel free to forward this announcement to those you believe would be interested. And if your church is in this new coverage area, please consider placing an announcement in your bulletins and newsletters, or even announcing the new station from the platform Sabbath mornings.

If you have any questions on how to receive the new channel, please don't hesitate contacting Better Life.

For His glory & purpose,

Your Better Life Team

With a Fervency!

This comes form the department - I should have my devotions before I send out emails.... Today's LIFE Journal reading is huge in the department of prayer. Here's a part of my journal entry this morning....

Acts 12:5 (NASB) "So Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer for him was being made fervently by the church to God."

Fervantly praying. They didn't believe it could/would happen, but they kept on praying anyway. They didn't believe it would happen, but it wasn't about their faith, it was about the sovereignty of God.

Lord, I want to give up wondering whether it's up to me and my faith that brings about healing or not. I want to give up wondering whether I'm doing something wrong. The only thing I do wrong is not fervently praying enough.

These people prayed and didn't expect Peter to be released - that is shown pretty clearly when you talk about their response when he came to their door. I don't know what they were praying. Perhaps they were praying  for his release, perhaps for his safety, perhaps just asking God to do something.

I want to ask myself - do I pray fervently for my kids? Do I pray fervently for Juliette? Do I pray fervently for the upcoming evangelistic seminar?

Lord, please turn me into a man of fervent prayer. Please turn me into a man of prayer who will stay on my knees until an answer comes. Please turn me into a man who not only believes in prayer but is relentless in my prayers until an answer comes.

PINK Sabbath!

REMINDER: This Sabbath is our pink Sabbath to honor Juliette. She is 5 years old with an inoperable brain tumor. Unless God changes things miraculously she doesn't have long.

This Sabbath we are going to have a pink Sabbath to honor Juliette with her favorite color. It's a sign of our solidarity in prayer for her. (if you don't have pink we will have ribbons to pin on)

So, wear pink and pray for Juliette! See you on Sabbath!

Juliette's Sabbath

Juliette's Sabbath

Juliette Gandy is six years old and has an inoperable brain tumor.   She and her dad, Matt,  are members of our church and many of you have been praying for her and her family.  Juliette's  favorite color is hot pink.  Next Sabbath, Oct 15th, our church will honor Juliette by asking everyone to wear something in hot pink.  We will have hot pink ribbons available for visitors and others who do not have anything in that color and would like to support her.  She is no longer able to attend church but pictures will be taken for her to see that her church loves her.

You would do well to pursue your causes with vigor, while remembering that you are a servant of God, not a spokesman for God, and remembering that God might well choose to bless an opposing point of view for reasons that have not yet been revealed to you.

Thursday September 14, 2010

The Mission of the Adventist Community Church is to Reach Deep in Discipleship, Reach Out in Evangelism and Reach Up in Worship.

More people are getting involved in our evangelistic strategy by scheduling this Community Concert series. It's a concert designed for the community, by the Adventist Community. It's designed not for us - but for them - to invite them to the church for something non-threatening and yet about God in more subtle ways.

Plan to come - September 25 @7pm.

Business Meeting Tonight

Tonight in the Fireside room, we will be having a short business meeting to talk about our progression towards the vision and to approve the fiscal year's budget. The meeting begins at 7pm and we should be done by 8 or a little afterwards.

Bring your questions and ideas and plan to share.

This Week's Message

This week's message by Roger will be on the Day of Atonement. Sabbath, September 18 is the actual day which the Jewish world will celebrate this day. And as many people went to the Messiah's Mansion in the last couple of weeks, and may want to know ore - come on out for a single message on the Day of Atonement - it's meaning in practical ways for our lives today.

Today in Vancouver - eNews

Thursday September 2, 2010

The Mission of the Adventist Community Church is to Reach Deep in Discipleship, Reach Out in Evangelism and Reach Up in Worship.

In his book, "The Road Ahead", the late Jere Patzer tells us this:
"On Tuesday, October 17, 1989, at 5:04 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time, the earth began to shake under the San Francisco Bay area. IN what was then named Candlestick Park, the Oakland Athletics and the San Francisco Giants baseball teams were getting ready to begin the World Series.
"Suddenly in that great stadium the lights began to flicker. Steel girders holding the upper deck began to sway, and pieces of concrete started crumbling down. A voice over the loud speaker told spectators to leave. But when the initial quake was over, fans began shouting, "Play ball!"
"In the Marina district north of Candlestick Park, houses shifted off crumbling foundations, and buildings collapsed. Gas lines exploded, and fire broke out. Across the Bay, in Oakland, a mile long section of Highway 880 fell, crushing rushhour commuters. In the course of one minute thousands of peoples' lives were changed because of something that happened deep inside the earth, and merely shouting "Play ball!" would not change these cataclysmic forces.
"No, there must be a strategy. This will involve pain, trial, error, and failure, but the impact can be enormous.
"Deciding to change—having a vision—is only half of the battle. We have to develop a workable strategy to take people with us. And that is difficult as we all know."

We do have a strategy for getting to the mission of REACHing people with the message of Jesus. Over the next couple of years we want to see:
  • to see 35 new people trained as Community Group leaders - which we believe will translate into 240 people in a Community Group. If you aren't in a group, want to lead a group - then click here.
  • to have at least 350 people involved in one aspect of our Evangelism Process. We believe that will translate into at least 125 people being baptized over the next three years. That process includes things like greeting during seminars, teaching a health class, helping with community car washes, serving at the Community Services Center, etc. If you'd like to get involved in just one aspect of the Evangelism Process - click here.
  • to have at least 300 people involved in personal devotions - which we believe will help grow our average worship service attendance from 400 to 600. If you'd like more information on getting involved in a personal devotional life - click here.
You need to get involved - and these three areas allow you to be part of the strategy of growing deeper, growing up and growing out in Christ. Don't miss out on this tremendous time to be part of the team....

Did you hear that Mount Ellis did win one of the spots? And they did it with 144,000 votes.... Funny!
