FYI - What's Happening!

2009-10-27

Sunday Evening we held a business meeting at the church - sounds like fun, right?  But actually we heard many good comments about the process.  Some were very glad we moved the nominating committee vote out of the worship time.  Even though there were less people to vote on the issues, they just don't seem like a worship thing to do....  Others expressed a big learning moment when Dave Cannard presented the budget and where our ministry offerings go.  The budget was approved.  The Nominating Committee Report was approved.  The Mission/Vision generated some very good discussion and questions.

Decoding Prophecy - Danny is doing a masterful job of preaching the word to the people coming out night-by-night to the seminar.  This week's meeting schedule is as follows:

• Tuesday - What Happens when you die
• Wednesday - When the Smoke Clears
• Thursday - Making a New Start 
• Friday - The Battle for the Throne
• Sabbath Morning - The Great Pretender
• Sabbath Evening - Forever Marked

Church Finances - as those who came to the business meeting heard, we are nearly $10,000 off budget for the fiscal year already (which started September 1).  These are economically tough times, but please remember that your support of the church budget includes such "mundane" things are providing programming for our kids, giving out regular reading materials for personal discipleship, providing a place to hold seminars, meetings and Community Groups, a place to fellowship and visit.  The heartbeat of the church is ministry to others - those are the things the church budget really supports.  Thank you for your support.

Please Pray - Perhaps you saw on Facebook.  Pastor Gene Heinrich's mother was recently diagnosed with cancer.  Please also pray for the seminar.  Please pray for the finances of the church.  Please pray for the mission/vision team to complete their work and that we all move forward in alignment.  Please pray for the many sick and hurting.  Please pray for those looking for work.  Please pray for each other - just to support someone else in prayer.

Decoding Prophecy

This evening, we begin our seminar of Decoding Prophecy.  We've done the mailing, we've created the teams, Roger has preached about the "whys", and the church is ready.  Now, we're simply praying that people will come.  We're praying that that 5-mile radius the brochures were mailed to will make a difference in the community.  We're praying that things happen for the good of Christ and his cause.  If you'd like more info, click here.

If you are Volunteering

We're asking all seminar volunteers to wear a black shirt.  No ties, no need for slacks or skirts.  If you are volunteering, dress business casual - khaki's, jeans, or slacks and a black T-shirt (with no writing on it), or a black dress shirt.  This will give us a uniform look and feel for the people coming into the seminar.

Brochure

It's not to late for someone to be invited.  If you'd like to have a copy of the brochure to email to a friend - anytime this week - then you'll want to click here to download one.  Tonight it begins, but if they can't make it tonight, no problem, invite them anyways!  It would be wonderful if we became a church of inviters!

A Continuing Series of Presentations

The brochure only lists 3 nights - but says this is a continuing series of presentations.  The seminar actually runs every Tues, Weds, Thurs, Fri, and Sat. nights for several weeks.  It starts promptly at 7:00 pm and goes for about an hour and 15 minutes each evening.  We hope you'll come - bring your Community Group members with you, come when you don't have anything else scheduled, TIVO Jeopardy and watch it later.  Come and support Pastor Danny!  Become a prayer warrior - remember it takes Adventists to make Adventists - even if this isn't targeted at you - we need you there to support anyone new coming....

Church Business Meeting

On October 25 we're having a church business meeting where we will take a look at the finances and budget.  We'll then vote on the officers for 2010 and beyond.  And we'll also talk some about the Mission and Vision of the church.  Please Plan to come!

The baby shower for Tara Gonzales' new baby girl Monika has been
postponed to a later date.  Several members of the baby shower
planning group are sick or unable to attend and we thought it would be
best to plan it for another day. We apologize for any inconvenience

One week from Today!

Plan to attend the Decoding Prophecy Seminar starting on October 13 at the Adventist Community Church.  Pastor Danny has been preparing very strong messages that seek to reach people with a message of truth and a message of hope.  The goal of this seminar is to get people to Jesus.  You can read more here.  You can volunteer here.  You can download a PDF of the brochure to email your friends here.

Creation Sabbath 

There is a special creation Sabbath planned all over North America on October 24 - interestingly enough, Pastor Danny's title for that weekend of the seminar is about Created for a Purpose.  Although it's not exactly about creation, but will talk some about that issue.  Instead of doing a creation Sabbath on October 24, we're planning on December 5th with Dr. Doug Newton.  More information on that weekend coming.

Church Business Meeting

October 25 we're going to have a church business meeting.  At this business meeting we'll discuss three basic things:

1. Look at and vote of the church budget
2. Vote to approve the nominating committee report (so they can take office on November 1)
3. Discussion of the Mission/Vision process and where it's going next.

We're going to start with a Soup and Salad Potluck and then move into the business session.  It will begin at 4:30pm (Dinner)  and the business meeting will follow immediately afterwards.  More information coming soon.  Please plan to attend.
