Get the Latest Info:
If you miss a Sabbath, you've missed a lot.  Not only did you miss the chance for building community and friendship, but you also missed hearing about all that is happening.  Every week, we have a bulletin produced that includes announcements, newsletter articles and calendar items.  You can see all of them on our website if you'd like.  You can also see the Church Board agenda and the minutes from the board.  CLICK HERE

Submit a Prayer Request/Praise
Many times we just need people to pray with us.  Maybe you don't feel like there's anyone to pray with.  You can submit a prayer request on our website and ask that it be shared with just the prayer team, or with everyone who visits the site.  It's your call - but why not share now with what you have to praise for or pray for.  CLICK HERE

Calendar
Our most up-to-date calendar is online.  Check it out, because as this church gets more and more active, it won't be about knowing what one thing is going on today, but about which thing I will choose to be part of today.  CLICK HERE

Share a Message
Do you know someone who missed a Sabbath and you think they should hear what was said in the message?  Do you want to help a shut-in and can burn a CD with a message to give to them?  Do you want to invite someone to church and think sharing a message would be a great place to start?  Then visit the church website and download the latest message(s) and share them around, listen again, or put them on a CD for someone who doesn't do computers.  You can listen from the website, put them into iTunes, or share the link.  The messages are now online almost immediately after the 11:10 service....  CLICK HERE

Community Groups Take Off with a Bang!
On Sabbath, we had our first ever Community Groups training.  Our goal was to launch 15 groups out of this and to eventually grow them to 30 groups by the end of the year.  53 people signed up to come.  We knew a few others would come, and we were right - 85 people came to the training and 32 people signed up to lead a group....  Read More

Iran - Damavand Climbing Expedition Report
On Saturday evening, Ron Oliver did a special report to talk about his climbing trip to Iran.  The Fireside Room was wall-to-wall people.  We had to set up chairs in the front and the back of the room stretch clear into the lobby of the church.  There was probably 100+ people there and many of them were non-members.  Ron gave an excellent travelogue, but also a presentation to accept Jesus and be in the new kingdom when it comes.  Yea God!  Way to go Ron!

FYI - What's Happening (for a complete Calendar - click here)
  • Tonight - Education Committee 5:30 PM - Please pray for this committee, as we are in the midst of seeking ways to help families provide for their child's Christian education.  This year, the requests are greater than in times past and we're facing a possible $5,000 per month need.  This is totally outside the budget.  Please pray that we can make right choices to help as many as possible.
  • Tonight - Finance Committee 6:30 PM - They are working on the church budget to take to the board on Wednesday evening
  • Tonight - Worship Coordinators Meeting 7:30 PM
  • Tuesday - Nominating Committee
  • Wednesday - Binding the Wounds continues at 7:00 PM
  • Wednesday - Church Board Meeting at 7:00 PM - if you'd like to read past church board agendas and minutes, you can do so at this link: Click Here
  • Sabbath - Worship at 8:45 and 11:10 AM, Study Time at 10:00 AM - Pastor Danny is speaking
  • Sabbath Evening - Darmody/La Mountain Concert at 7:00 PM.  If you'd be interested in helping to defray the costs of this seminar, please place money in the tithe envelope and mark it for "concert" see website for more info
  • September 3, 10 - Bible Study Workshop - if you've ever wondered how to give Bible Studies to people one-on-one, Pastor Danny will be presenting this continuing seminar on how to do just that.  Plan to come - there are already about 20 people signed up and there is room for more!
  • October 3 - Communion
  • October 13 - Fall Evangelistic Seminar.  We'll be mailing to 55,000 homes to gain their interest.  Plan to come.  We're also looking for additional funding for evangelism.  Please prayerfully consider giving to the funding of the mission of the church through evangelism.  Please mark your tithe envelope for Local Church: Evangelism.  This fiscal year, we'll be spending over $50,000 on evangelism and none of that is in the budget.  Your donations to this fund are much appreciated to further the work of the church into the community in an effective manner.

Pathfinder Update

Begin forwarded message:

Hello again!

Just a note to let you know that the Ft. Vancouver Pathfinders packed up
the tents and equipment into their trailer this morning and hit the road
at 10:00 am their time.  They had only travelled a short distance when
rain drops started to fall.  The tents and equipment were dry when they
packed the trailer (yeah!yeah!)  They stopped at a "cheese factory"  and
lunch at a rest stop and resuming travel on to Sioux Falls, SD tonight
along with a couple of other clubs.  They are enjoying this break, from
several days of packed activities, to catch up on sleep and soothe their
blisters,
sunburns and tired legs.  They figured that they each had walked about
3-4 miles each day.

They didn't have any breakdowns, no one got hurt (except the occasional
hurt feelings , but they worked through that), and no one got sick!  Pray
that
the trip home will be the same.

Have a good day@

Pat Wolfswinkel

Pathfinders arrive in Oshkosh

From: coyotesblinker
Date: August 11, 2009 8:23:03 PM PDT

Subject: update

Greetings to all,

The Pathfinders have arrived at Oshkosh, safe and sound.  God has blessed
them with good weather and safe travels these past few days.  They have
been working on setting up camp and getting ready for supper.  Everyone
is glad to be out of the vehicles and not have to travel for a few days.
Their camp is surrounded by familiar faces of clubs from home!  Everyone
was able to take a shower at the church they stayed at last night. (I
believe they have 5 min. showers at Oshkosh so they'll have to be quick.)
The church provided them with a special breakfast of Cinnamon Rolls,
fruits, milk & chocolate milk.

Now they will be exercising their leg muscles as they walk where ever
they go.  The first meeting was tonight.  Every evening, you can watch a
live stream on the Internet from camporee.  Here is the link:
http://www.adventistyouth.org/cts/ .  Click on livewebstreaming and
follow the directions from there.  You can also view it on Hope Church
Channel every evening from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm PT.

May each one be blessed by being at this special event.

I'll write more later,

Pat Wolfswinkel

Hello again!

Sorry for the long space between e-mails, but yesterday, Sunday, they
didn't have cell service driving through Wyoming to Rapid City, South
Dakota.  They arrived safely in Rapid
City, SD in time to see Mt. Rushmore illuminated by lights.  It was
awesome!  They had been to a museum in Cody, WY before they left and
stopped several times along the
way.  They've seen many fields of Corn, Corn, Corn.  This morning they
left Rapid City early, stopping at "Corn Palace" and "Wall Drug". So they
have arrivcd at Mason City, IA.
Here they were able to take showers and get a good nights sleep.  They
leave early tomorrow morning to finish their drive to Oshkosh, WI and
participate in the 2009 Pathfinder
Camporee. Continue to pray for safe travel and good health.

Write more later,
Pat Wolfswinkel

Fwd: 2 'Focus on North Korea' VOM events...September 18 and 19!

Subject: 2 'Focus on North Korea' VOM events...September 18 and 19!

Greetings friends of VOM and the persecuted Church!

North Korea is one of the most repressive and isolated regimes in the world. The country denies human rights to its citizens. North Korea is the worst perpetrator of persecution against Christian's in the world. Christians must practice their faith in deep secrecy and are in constant danger, though many continue to stand strong under relentless persecution. Despite harsh conditions, Christians are quietly adding to their numbers daily.

Please join us as we focus on the persecuted church in North Korea. You can attend our Friday September 18 evening session or our more in-depth Saturday September 19 all-day conference. Come and be challenged and encouraged by the faithfulness of our brothers and sisters and learn how we can pray and be involved in reaching into this nation. See attached flyer for information on the conference or visitwww.vommeetings.com

Speakers include:

"Esther" was born in North Korea and defected to China in 2000, where she met the Lord. She felt God calling her back inside NK and she was captured and imprisoned upon her return. But God gave her a ministry behind bars, and she promised a cell mate that she would share their story with the world if she ever got out. Following her miraculous release in 2006, she is making good on that promise. Her story will soon be released as a book by The Voice of The Martyrs in Canada and Korea. This is her first public appearance in the U.S.

Mr. Choi was a successful businessman who left his comfortable life in South Korea to reach North Koreans with the gospel in China. Mr. Choi brought the love and knowledge of Christ to so many North Korean refugees he was jailed by the Chinese for his "crime." During his more than two years in prison, he was tortured for continuing his evangelism. Near death, he was released by the Chinese and he now serves as Director of The Voice of the Martyrs in Korea.

The Reverend Eric Foley and his wife Mrs. Hyun Sook Foley founded The Voice of The Martyrs Korea, to support the work of the indigenous underground church in North Korea. The Foleys oversee a far-flung staff in the US and all across Asia which walks daily with North Koreans in order to help them accomplish the calling God has on each of their lives.

There is no charge to attend these gatherings but an offering will be received. Registration is required. For more information and to register, visit www.vommeetings.com or contact Phyllis at (877) 337-0302 or e-mail pcummins@vom-usa.org

eNews 2009-08-10

Welcome to the Adventist Community Church's eNews

This morning, I was struck with the idea of how God's message has always been the same, that it's a message of grace that saves us.  I was reading in Jeremiah and read these words:

Jeremiah 3:12 "Go and shout this message to my people in the countries in the north.26 Tell them,
'Come back to me, wayward Israel,' says the Lord.
'I will not continue to look on you with displeasure.27
For I am merciful,' says the Lord.
'I will not be angry with you forever.
3:13 However, you must confess that you have done wrong,28
and that you have rebelled against the Lord your God.
You must confess29 that you have given yourself to30 foreign gods under every green tree,
and have not obeyed my commands,' says the Lord.

We need to create a community of grace - where people can hear the message - God will accept you back from wherever you've been, whatever you've done, whenever you've done it.  Just confess and God will take you back.  Sounds a lot like 1 John 1:9 - if we confess, he forgives.  Old and New - both testaments proclaim the same gospel message of grace.  Everyone in our community needs to hear it.
